Forbes Africa has released its list of Richest African musicians, which included Nigerian artistes like, Don Jazzy, Wizkid and Davido. Nigeria-American singer Jidenna also made the list.

The list was put together using factors such as endorsement value, popularity, show rates, sales, awards, YouTube views, appearance in newspapers, investment, social media presence, influence and others.

Senegalese - American singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer Akon was top on Forbes list. The 44 year old artiste is said to have sold 35 million albums worldwide. He has also won numerous awards including five Grammy Award nominations and has 45 Billboard Hot 100 songs under his belt.

South Africa’s Black Coffee and Hugh Masekela came second and third respectively.

Nigeria’s Don Jazzy was ranked fourth richest in Africa and also first in Nigeria. The 34 -year- old founder of Mavin Records whose real name is Michael Collins Ajere, is also a record producer and entrepreneur.

Others on the list are Tinashe from Zimbabwe, who is also an actress and a former model. She is the only female on the list. Nigerian-American Jidenna ranked sixth.

Nigeria’s Wizkid and Davido came in seventh and eighth place respectively while Sakordie, a Ghanaian and Oliver Mtukudzi from Zimbabwe ranked ninth and tenth richest artistes in Africa.
